Hon. Elizabeth Perris was an active U.S.  Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Oregon, for over 30 years (April 1984 - January 2015). She received her A.B. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1972 and her J.D. from the University of California, Davis, in 1975. She has been an Adjunct Professor at Lewis & Clark College of Law (2005 - 2006, 2008 - 2009) and Willamette University School of Law (1998). She was a member of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Ninth Circuit from 1988 - 1993 and 1998 - 2005. From 1976 - 1984 she worked in Oregon as a bankruptcy court law clerk, served as a bankruptcy trustee and an attorney in private practice specializing in bankruptcy. Elizabeth Perris was a member of the United States Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules from 2007 - 2014.  She served as chairperson of the Bankruptcy Judges’ Education Committee and board member of the Federal Judicial Center, and in the process, helped educate new bankruptcy judges from throughout the country.  She is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.
