Hon. Elizabeth Perris was an active U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Oregon for over 30 years (April 1984 - January 2015). She received her A.B. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1972 and her J.D. from the University of California, Davis, in 1975. She has been an Adjunct Professor at Lewis & Clark College of Law (2005-06, 2008-09) and Willamette University School of Law (1998). She also was a member of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Ninth Circuit from 1988-93 and 1998-2005. From 1976-84, she worked in Oregon as a bankruptcy court law clerk, served as a bankruptcy trustee and was an attorney in private practice specializing in bankruptcy. Judge Perris was a member of the U.S. Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules from 2007-14. She chaired the Bankruptcy Judges’ Education Committee and was board member of the Federal Judicial Center, in the process helping educate new bankruptcy judges from throughout the country. She is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.
